The origins of chicken and waffles go back to mid-1800s, and in the early 1900s advertisements boasted that “you can attend a chicken and waffle supper right at home any time you have the notion if you are the owner of a Griswold’s American Waffle Iron”. The 1930s saw popularity increase and this dish was immortalized by Bunny Berigan in a 1935 jazz instrumental titled “Chicken and Waffles”. More recently, we have seen a resurgence of this popular combination in restaurants across the country, and this on-trend dish is popular with students.
